| I wanted to create a dreamlike quality to go along side the text, and to capture the texture and shadow and see how bright the colours would be. |
I also scanned my hands with the words 'panic' and 'achieve' torn out from a newspaper.
I decided to rescan the image of my hands because although I was happy with how the previous image had turned out, I knew I could make it better. My first re-try included me pressing my hands even harder onto the scanning glass.
| Some further scan tries |
After scanning in my hands again, I decided to add a more human element, showing the opposite factors in the words, I decided to place my face into the image.
I spread my hair out across the glass, and wrapped it around my hand that says ‘Panic’ to give the effect of breaking up and disorder, while the ‘Achieve’ hand that was not wrapped in the hair has a feeling of calm and serenity about it. The addition of the face put a more human perspective to the image; even though the eyes are close and most of the features are hidden, when I put the image on a plynth in the gallery, it almost looked like the person in the image was trying to push her way out of the picture, emphasising the struggle behind the two words written on the hand.
